Illustrator:Charles R. Biggers III

Charles R. Biggers III hails from Montgomery, Alabama, the home of the civil rights movement. His life has been

surrounded by historical impressions that have overtly and subliminally shaped his mindset as a creative. As a member

of Gen Z, he has witnessed the trauma of those who have seen inequity, inequality and racial brutality in the 21st century.

His art is starkly beautiful and haunting, and he has been an active artist throughout most of his life, starting at a young age. He chose to start his career in art when he was only in middle school, and he grew his platform fully on his own from that point onward. Charles then worked diligently to curate his style and clearly channel his energy and emotion in

everything he creates. His work in the book is a catalyst whose agenda is to provoke thought, transformation and positve change. This is Biggers' first published illustrated work.

Illustrator: Jélen Gillis

Hey, I'm Jélen, (you can call me Jay) a Graphic Artist from East Chicago, Indiana. Art is like one of my birth marks. I've been creating things for as long as I can remember. My professional focus began to form during my time at Emerson School for the Visual and Performing Arts in Gary, IN. where I studied Visual Art and Theater. After becoming a 2011 recipient of the Lilly Community Endowment Scholarship, I combined the skills I learned from both disciplines to select my college major. I pursued a degree in Visual Communications Design at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. where in May 2015 I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree.

By day, I'm a freelance designer and illustrator. By night, I love to sketch cartoons and paint landscapes, listen to jazz and electronic music, cook or relax with a dramatic Sci-Fi series.
